Groundbreaking Ceremony held for Deutsches Haus

HCMC – Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh Stadt on Saturday organized an official groundbreaking ceremony for Deutsches Haus at 33 Le Duan Boulevard, District 1, HCMC.

The building has been underway since November 2014 with four basements almost complete. It is expected to be up and running at the end of the third quarter in 2017.

Deutsches Haus is described by the investor as “a pioneering premium grade office tower” and located on the corner of Le Duan and Le Van Huu streets in the central business district of HCMC. The 25-storey building has a gross floor area of around 40,000 square meters for retail, multifunctional exhibitions, events, conferences, apartments and the German Consulate General in HCMC.

This will also be a destination for German and Central European headquartered companies and institutions to do business with partners in Vietnam and ASEAN as a whole, and an ideal trading platform for Vietnamese companies doing business with Germany and the European Union.

Deutsches Haus is designed to become a green and premium building in HCMC to get Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB) certification.

Therefore, Deutsches Haus is believed to set a new benchmark and standard in Vietnam in terms of wellness for tenants and employees, creating value for different workspaces.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Vietnam´s Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang said that when Deutsches Haus is in place, more German investors would come to Vietnam for business and cultural exchanges, and bilateral ties between the nations could be strengthened.

Though not showing up at the ceremony, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier sent a message to the event via a video clip. He expressed appreciation of the support of the Vietnamese Government, HCMC and investors from the two countries for the Deutsches Haus project.

“Deutsches Haus in HCMC is a pledge of Germany that we will come to Vietnam and want to seek long-term and sustainable cooperation with your country,” he said.

The Deutsches Haus project costs an estimated US$100 million. Local lender VietinBank has provided a loan for this project.
